Rodeo riders!

M and I have a good friend Nathaniel who was born just three weeks before M. We decided to go down to watch the rodeo riders when they paraded by Memorial Park. (Baby, daddy, and other kiddos were down sick and I didn't want to drag them out in the cold)

We had a picknick of doughnuts and lined up our own trail riders waiting for all the horsies to line up :)

Nate had big pretend glasses that my Maddie latched onto:

and here they are after the horses went by! Best Friends forever!!!!! I love three year olds. :)

Princess Slumber Party

Our first official girlie girl sleep over! I, never having been a true girlie girl, took most of my direction from K and M...

Our guests were greeted with the following welcome banner (designed by K and colored by M and K)

Here is one of our guests, miss Cady, with Little C snug in her lap

The lovely tea party that was set for our guests by K and M. We served regular tea and vanilla tea with cookies, sweet tarts, and fresh fruit. (note the flower arrangement done by K)

After tea, it was time to start making the princess crowns! All of the crafting paper was out and EVERYWHERE! :)

The girls played very nicely and shared very well!

Then, while all the glitter and glue dried, we had a dance party! Disney Princess Singalong Songs were the order of the day! Even little C got to dance with K. It is amazing how big K is getting, big enough to responsibly hold and sway with little C so she doesn't get hurt or upset. (can you tell I am so proud I'm glowing? hope so...)

And what would a girlie girl sleep over be without MAKEUP and NAIL PAINTING! After we all got PJs on, we watched Tangled and waited for our nails to dry. Of course, princess must have crowns to do have the full effect - didn't they do a great job making them? What talented girls!
"AND NOW A SILLY ONE!" cries Cady - how can you say no to such a sweet face?

After that the air mattress got put out and all the girls snuggled down to watch Tangled and eat popcorn. It didn't take long for them to all pass right out.

Not to be left out of the fun, B decided to come down and watch too... but in the interest of not seeming too girlie, he brought his sword.

The only thing that could wake them up in the morning was the smell of cinnamon rolls!

Overall, it was a great time - I am so proud of K and M for putting on such a great party and being such polite and gracious hostesses. :)

What makes my kids happy?

After 3 hours of straight sugar, pizza, games, tokens, prizes, and eating more than double their body weight in cupcakes - it was all I could get them to do to stay still for a picture!! they were wired! So much for a quiet restful evening... lol

K's crafting idea!

It has been a struggle to get K to enjoy reading - or to even make it through a sentence without huffing and puffing... so when she brought over a library book the other weekend we took time to read it together. In the book, the character had made a mask using a paper plate and a wooden stick... K suggested we do the same thing!

So in the spirit of encouragement and learning, we set out on a crafting adventure! We used paper plates and kabab skewers (with the sharp part cut off and taped over), markers, glitter, tape, and ribbon.

Here we are at the table, coloring our 'faces' :)

B was determined to make his look very boyish - so he colored all blue and used blue ribbon for the bow tie.

Tada!! The unveil! Note, the girls pretty bows in their hair and B has a manly bow tie (that turned out quite well I think!


Poor doggie - her spot by the door has been invaded by masked intruders!

Note - B thinks it's much more fun to hold his mask up with his bottom lip rather than the stick we taped to the back. Can we say rebel without a cause?

It was great fun and makes me want to go look for children's books that have more crafting ideas!! :)
